Treasures from Salon 94, Dansk Møbelkunst, Osborne Samuel, and More are Unveiled

The not-for-profit European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) unveiled a dynamic “First Look” selection of scintillating pieces which will be on display at TEFAF New York, including treasures from Salon 94 (United States), Dansk Møbelkunst (Denmark), Osborne Samuel (United Kingdom), Thaddaeus Ropac (United Kingdom), Galerie Gisela Capitain (Germany), Ariadne (United States), Leon Tovar Gallery (United States), Galerie Mitterrand (France), and more.

The Page Gallery (South Korea) reveals a hypnotic, abstract work titled Sign of Equality 75-20 (1975) by the pioneering artist Choi Myoung Young. A founding member of two principal art groups, Origin and the Korean Avant-Garde Association, Young has been an integral leader in uplifting the country’s modern and contemporary art landscape. Continuing the poignant theme of “Conditional Planes,” the visionary focuses on repetitive and controlled gestures in his work on flat canvases, voyaging through individuality and philosophical meditations. Modernity Stockholm (Sweden) brings to New York the stunning and legendary Surrea (1940) vase created by Wilhelm Kåge for Gustavsbergin

The luminous Carrara-glazed stoneware is enhanced by ebullient shades of orange, yellow, and green, illuminating the artist’s skill as a painter, which first incited his bright career. As artistic director of Gustavsbergin between the years of 1917 and 1949, Kåge produced spellbinding ceramic designs energized by the vivacity of modern sculpture and painting.

“Through a suite of art services including art lending, planning, and consignment, we work with both private individuals and nonprofit institutions to grow, transition, and preserve art for generations to come.”

What is TEFAF?

Established in 1988, The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) is widely regarded as the world’s preeminent organization for fine art, antiques, and design. TEFAF produces two fairs internationally-TEFAF Maastricht, which presents over 7,000 years of art history, and TEFAF New York, focused on modern and contemporary art and design.

The TEFAF Museum Restoration Fund (TMRF) was established in 2012 in order to support and promote the professional restoration and related scholarly research of significant museum artworks. Championing art in all its forms, applications for its grants are open to public museums from all over the world and artworks from any age. Each year, a maximum of €50.000 will be allocated to projects. The Committee of independent experts usually selects two winners to receive each € 25,000 to support their restoration project.

The Summit brings together prominent thought leaders, distinguished experts, and influential stakeholders from various fields, including cultural heritage, art and archaeology, academia, governmental, and non-governmental organizations, to engage in constructive conversations on critical issues related to cultural heritage. As a platform for meaningful discourse and collaboration, the TEFAF Summit seeks to raise awareness and promote actionable solutions towards safeguarding our world’s invaluable cultural treasures and heritage.

Since 2002 the TEFAF has been involved in providing a program of independent research into the art market. TEFAF’s Art Market Report provides an opportunity to shine a light onto an area of the market that is under-researched or in the process of change. The art market report released during TEFAF Maastricht has become an industry standard. Source
