High Jewelry 2023 Collections
As the 2023 High Jewelry collections presented in Paris and Cannes are still very much on our minds, Whitewall brings you the crème de la crème from Buccellati, Van Cleef & Arpels, DeBeers, and Chopard.
Buccellati
Buccellati debuted over 50 spectacular creations for the new “Mosaico” High Jewelry collection. Invoking intricate designs by founder Mario Buccellati from the 1920s, the brand’s current Creative Director Andrea Buccellati infused shimmering mosaics of the Byzantine era into fluid pendant earrings, bib-necklaces, and cocktail rings. The shapely geometrics within the Church of Santa Maria della Croce found their way onto hypnotic pieces made with myriads of pavé diamonds and vivid gemstones such as emeralds and rubies. Flexible bracelets curved softly around the wrist in mesmerizing patterns, while opulent rings in balanced, mosaic designs were singular treasures by masters of Italian craftsmanship.
Van Cleef & Arpels
“Le Grand Tour,” the latest voyage by Van Cleef & Arpels of inspired High Jewelry, was an invitation to fully embrace the many facets of multicultural artistry. Titled after the popular coming-of-age trip through Europe and Italy during the 18th and 19th centuries, in which young students would expand their creativity and intellect through the freedom of worldly adventure, the brand presented a ravishing new collection. Jewelry and decorative arts are expertly collaged, producing sparkling souvenirs and heirlooms. London’s iconic Wedgewood porcelain designs formed the basis for the Josiah necklace, offering two cascading, ribbon-like strands of baguette-cut diamonds and oval-cut sapphires. 18th century Parisian chandeliers sparked the concept behind the Lucendi earrings, sensuously curved and shimmering in rose gold with diamonds and dreamlike mauve sapphires. Florence’s history of embellished Etruscan jewelry inspired the Villanova necklace, dazzling in rubellites, arching around a braided rose gold choker, accentuated with multiple settings and rounded diamonds.
DeBeers
De Beers’s “Metamorphosis Chapter Two” paid homage to the four seasons in the form of evolving cocoon and butterfly designs, leaf-like contours, and geometric glacial shapes, presenting 37 pieces in a sumptuous High Jewelry collection. As a continuation of “Metamorphosis Chapter One,” unveiled in January with nine “Prelude” jewels, the newest innovations combined nature’s raw beauty and the house’s technical prowess for the ultimate ode to mother nature’s majesty. The organic pattern of the Spring set invoked the King Protea flower of southern Africa, subtle and airy with petal forms and glistening white diamonds. The Summer set was inspired by the curves of ancient ammonite fossils and an enduring golden sun; the Climber earrings caressed like precious seashells, while the Masterpiece Diamond & Jacket Ring extended over three fingers with a unique 7.61 yellow diamond set beside gold wings radiating with princess-cut white diamonds.
Chopard
In a sweeping dedication to the seven forms of noble art—cinema, architecture, dance, sculpture, painting, literature, and music—Chopard debuted the thematic “Art” Red Carpet Collection during the 76th Cannes Film Festival. Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele drew from her travels across the globe and beloved discoveries, generously imbuing the house’s jewelry with personal odes to human genius and creativity. A necklace and earrings of diamond corollas rippled like dancing ballerinas, a briolette-cut diamond choker followed the shape of a soaring musical score, the perfect patterns of a tanzanite necklace nodded to the brilliance of modern-day architecture, and a romantic moon pendant spoke to our heart like classic cinema.
