This year’s high jewelry season was truly one for the books. Here, we offer a closer look at the newest—and finest—pieces from Tiffany & Co., De Beers, and Gucci.

Gucci’s Allegoria Captured Poolside at Chateau Marmont

To tell the story of its newest high jewelry collection, Gucci went to the inimitably glamorous Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. Daria Werbowy luxuriates poolside in a series of photos shot by David Sims, donning pieces of jewelry that play with antique stones and eclectic cuts. Allegoria is an allegory of the cycle of the four seasons, a story told by Creative Director Sabato De Sarno featuring precious stones in incredibly bold, rich tones. Sapphires, tourmalines, emeralds, and diamonds all take center stage in this opulent new collection.

De Beers Crowns Animal Inspirations

De Beers is the only House in the world with a direct connection to the source of its diamonds. This season, the brand honored this relationship with a collection of rings that are South African to their core. Each of the eight rings began with an incredibly rare hero diamond, chosen by the De Beers team. From there, each ring was given an accompanying crown or jacket inspired by a different animal native to southern Africa—a region extremely close to the heart of De Beers. One such piece is the lion-inspired Jacket Ring, which features a mane of beaded gold circling a 5.09-carat warm-white trilliant-cut diamond.

All of the rings can be worn in several ways. Wearers may wear the four crown rings with or without the hero diamond; they can playfully spread the ring’s components across several fingers. As De Beers CEO Céline Assimon noted, “Featuring rough diamonds and playful hidden details, these transformable rings are also a tribute to the evolution of De Beers Jewellers, from purveyor of the finest solitaire diamonds to a leading creative force in contemporary High Jewellery.” Dressed up or dressed down, these rings are massive, immaculate, luxurious pieces of wearable artwork.

Tiffany & Co. Dives Deep into the Ocean in Out of the Blue

The color is aquamarine, the material is diamond, and the collection is Out of the Blue. Chief Artistic Officer Nathalie Verdeille brings a lush, oceanic fantasy to Tiffany & Co. this season. Riffing on previous themes including Shell, Coral, Pisces, Star Urchin, and Seafish, every piece is an homage to both Tiffany & Co designer Jean Schlumberger and the ocean itself. Verdeille remarked, “From his creations, we have created a new dreamlike language that animates what he so brilliantly conceived half a century ago.”

This new collection also features a new theme: Sea Anemone. The result is a spindly ball of gold shards, simultaneously suggesting movement and utter poise. Other highlights include a Pisces necklace with an orange sapphire of over 23 carats and a pendant that reimagines the Starfish as having a 22-carat green cuprian elbaite tourmaline at its center.
