Looking like performance pieces straight from a New York City Ballet costume rehearsal, the spring/summer 2014 Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture collection took inspiration straight from the prima ballerina. Leotards with built-in bra tops connected to feathery skirts remained simplistic with little to no embellishments. Looks incorporated fabrics, bows, and ribbons so fluidly, it was difficult to see where fabric ended and skin began. On the runway, dancers from the Dutch National Ballet replaced models, tiptoeing on baby pink pointe shoes, wearing the pieces with tights and large Circadian hairstyles.
The color palette fit the ballerina code in light pinks, oranges, yellows, and other soft tones.
