No contributor

On December 1, UNTITLED, ART Miami Beach launched its VIP preview, opening for the public from December 2—6. With a focus on “Contemporary Artists from the Caribbean,” the ninth edition of the fair encompasses an online presentation with exhibitions from 60 galleries and a series of live panel discussions hosted on Zoom and social media.

With an online viewing room design by Artland, the virtual reality fair features a curated floorpan that gives attendees the experience of navigating exhibitor booths, zooming in on artworks, and engaging with galleries by commenting on guestbooks or sending direct messages. Within this format, guests can expect to find presentations by art spaces from 18 countries including names like A Lighthouse called Kanata, Kravets Wehby Gallery, Jane Lombard Gallery, LUCE GALLERY, October Gallery, Claire Oliver Gallery, T H E P I L L, Galleri Urbane, PADRE, Over the Influence, La Pecera, HOWL! Arts, and DURAN | Mashaal

Virtual events outside of the online viewing room includes programming in line with the fair’s focus on Caribbean art, like a conversation between the Director of Caribbean Art Initiatve Albernine Kopp with Laura Castro and Sara Hermann, a discussion between the Art + Research Center ICA Miami’s Director Gean Moreno and collectors like Daphna Bentata and Jorge Pérez, and a series featuring the Jamaica-based Museum of Contemporary Caribbean Art. Remote fairgoers should plan on ending their fair experience on Saturday with a virtual studio visit with the artist Bernadette Despujols and the associate curator of the the Uruguayan gallery La Percera, Martin Craciun, while those local to Miami will want to visit The Bass’s special UNTITLED, ART Miami Beach day, which includes happenings like an in-person guided tour of its “Art Outside” program.
