Kay Hofmann: Senses

Katy Donoghue

18 January 2021

François Ghebaly presents “Senses,’’ an exhibition of sculptures from 1986 through 2020 by stone carver Kay Hofmann. In her work, the artist favours hand-hewn and hand-polished surfaces, instead of power tools and electric grinders and creates movement in stone, resulting in forms that carry an ancient and elemental sensibility. Hofmann’s sculptures are small earthy monuments that reveal female figures plunging in aquatic motion or swept by a great wind.
