Julie Curtiss’s first London exhibition, “Monads and Dyads” features a selection of new paintings, sculptures, and works on papers. Creating her own visual language that combines influences like 19th century French painting and pop comic book and illustration styles, Curtiss creates surreal scenes infused with elements of grotesque and deadpan humor. Open at White Cube Mason’s Yard through June 26, the exhibition (named after mathematical terms for singular or coupled characters) explore concepts of individualism and collectivism in the context of our contemporary society.
