David Zwirner presents “The Real World,” a group exhibition by gallery artists Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Raymond Pettibon, Jason Rhoades, Diana Thater, Rirkrit Tiravanija, and Lisa Yuskavage. The show, featuring paintings, sculptures, and installations from the 1990s and early 2000s, is on view through July 31. The selection of works highlights the innovative approaches taken by artists and their major influence in the New York and Los Angeles art industry. Working with nontraditional subjects, formats, and ideas, the artists respond in their practice to suppressed and overlooked social issues, in relation to identity, gender, sexuality, consumerism, and the environment.
