Futurition

Eliza Jordan

19 February 2022

Gabriela Ruiz’s debut solo show at Anat Ebgi, “Futurition” takes viewers inside the mind of the artist through a presentation encompassing sculptural paintings, video works, and soundscapes. Putting on display Ruiz’s self-described chaotic thought process, the artist has presented to viewers a montage of body parts acting as a sort of third-person narrative through which to see herself. Diving into the fragile, precarious nature of humankind, Ruiz’s utilization of indestructible materials (often found in construction sites) represents her quest to overcome preoccupations of impending doom by preserving pieces of herself and humanity.
