Nanimarquina: Tones

For the Salone del Mobile 2022, the Barcelona-based rug company nanimarquina is celebrating its 35th anniversary with the debut of its newest collection, “Tones,” designed by Nani Marquina in collaboration with the multidisciplinary Barcelona-based artist Clàudia Valsells. “Tones” features four rug designs with rhythmic and diverse melds of color, developed with two techniques which result in differing visual and tactile finishes. The hand-tufted technique enables the immediate transfer of Valsells’ touch and intention, as though she were painting the rug from a blank canvas. The traditional technique of kilim enriches the rugs with a traditionally yet eclectically woven look, incorporating rich Afghani wool.
