In 2009, after Alexandre Vauthier learned the couture ropes from working alongside Jean Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler, he launched his own brand. Thereafter, a trickling line of fashionable females followed in admiration, including Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Sofia Loren, and Poppy Delevigne. His devotion to new and luxurious fabrics, paired with his innate sense of fit and flair, led him to the exact spot in which he is in now—Paris Couture Fashion Week.
For fall/winter 2015-16, Vauthier waltzed dramatic looks down the runway, including: plunging necklines on black, red, and gold dresses; seductive cutouts from the top to bottom; matching shoes and belts with tassels, hardware, and strips of hanging leather; a whisking off-the-shoulder cap-like dress in what appears to be the softest material known to man.
In addition, he also unexpectedly debuted two new lines: accessories and shoes. In each look, long earrings in fuchsia, gold, jet black, and dusty pink matched each outfit to the tee. Paired heels included strappy wrap-around-the-ankle stilettos, and each pair donned something unique—tassels, hanging fringes, and gold and silver adornment.
Vauthier knew what Paris Couture Fashion Week was all about, and he nailed it with drama, drama, and more drama in both familiar and new territories.
