Victoire de Castellane: “Precious Objects” at Gagosian Gallery
March 11 – April 5
Opening:
980 Madison Avenue
An exhibition of recent works by Victoire de Castellane, a sculptor of unique precious objects. Castellane’s highly original collections for Dior redefined and haute joaillerie. In her independent practice, she uses surprising materials to create technically challenging jewelry.

FRIDAY

Friedrich Kunath: “The Temptation To Exist (May Contain Nuts)”  at Andrea Rosen Gallery
March 14 – April 26
Opening: March 14, 6-8pm
525 West 24th Street
Inextricably entwining the experience of the ordinary with the sublime, Kunath’s works jump between daydreams and “reality,” painterly surface and psychological interior. Through heightening the artifice and the sincerity of the narrative, both are shown to be essential.

Sharon Hayes: “Fingernails on a blackboard” at Andrea Rosen Gallery
March 14 – April 26
Opening: March 14, 6-8pm
525 West 24th Street
The exhibition expands and builds upon an established line of inquiry in Hayes’ work through her active mining of the intersection between history, politics and speech. Both the title of the exhibition and a new body of work, Fingernails on a blackboard investigates how voice acts as the embodied medium of speech.

Gerard & Kelly: “Timelining” at The Kitchen
March 14 – April 19
Performances: March 14, 12-6pm & March 15, 11am-6pm
512 West 19th Street
Timelining features new projects installed in both the upstairs and downstairs spaces of The Kitchen.  Through a series of sculptures, site-specific interventions, and a performance enacted for the duration of the exhibition whenever a viewer is present, Gerard & Kelly underscore The Kitchen as a site to work through questions of queer time and intersubjectivity.

SUNDAY

“The Weird Show” at Canada
March 16 – April 13
Opening: March 16, 6-8pm
333 Broome Street
The Weird Show is a group exhibition featuring works from Peter Coffin, Willy Le Maitre, and Agathe Snow.

Tony Lewis & Nate Young at Room East
March 16 – April 13
Opening: March 16, 6-8pm
41 Orchard Street
A two-person exhibition of work by Tony Lewis and Nate Young, which will mine the language of installation-based drawing, will open at Room East. “1. Three people leap to conclusions that logic cannot reach.  2. Have rational judgments.  3. Watch irrational judgments at least once a year.”
