Calvin Klein premiered its first installation at Design Miami/ Basel on Monday, a collection of limited-edition Cassina Feltri armchairs arranged around an American barn.
The Feltri armchair was originally designed for Cassina by Gaetano Pesce in 1987 as an ironic take on the royal throne. Inspired by Pesce, Calvin Klein’s Raf Simons selected heirloom American quilts to upholster the limited run of 100 chairs (half are available for purchase at the fair, while the remainder can be bought from Cassina). Simons imagined the project as a cultural correspondence, symbolic of both American heritage and the homespun spirit of the past.

The barn, one of several created for the Calvin Klein 205W39NYC Fall 2018 runway show, is composed of reclaimed wood dated back to the 19th century and features large-scale artwork by Andy Warhol.
