In 1954, The Little Dictionary of Fashion: A Guide to Dress Sense for Every Woman was published, with advice from Christian Dior for the fashion world universe. “Among all the colors, navy blue is the only one which can never compete with black, it has all the same qualities,” he said in the book about one of his favorite colors. For the fall/winter 2017-18 collection, the house’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri is building from the heritage of Monsieur Dior’s favored shade, offering a collection fit for every day you’re feeling blue.
From light blue to pitch black, there are looks fit for various occasions. There were trench coats, open ponchos, overalls, pleated skirts, sheer dresses, high-waisted trousers, purses, shoulder bags, long and short boots, and hats. Velvet and lace were seen mixing up the denim ready-to-rumble looks, and we saw some of the designer’s new J’adior accessories grace the runway too.
