ETRO’s Folksy Chic Collection

No contributor

ETRO’s fall/winter 2014-15 collection merges Eastern and Western folk culture designs, blending Asian silk prints with traditional paisley, tweed and wool. Taking cues from forgotten, ancient craftsmanship, this collection pays exquisite attention to detail. The ensembles are sewn like tapestries, with large ornate panels on floor-length dresses and three-dimensional embroidery.

Plissed dresses and skirts adorned with braided passamaneria provide a textural contrast to the sturdy tweeds and suede. Silhouettes are free-flowing and folky, with large blanket coats, wool capes and Mongolian furs. Accessories in burgundy, military green, rust, midnight blue and tobacco add impact to the collection.
