In 1954, the Marbella Club opened, epitomizing Golden Age luxury. Guests—like Audrey Hepburn, the Duke of Windsor, and Sean Connery—visited, backgammon was played poolside, and black-tie galas regularly dazzled the property on weekends. Now, the Andalusian beach resort is ushering in an era of modern glamor as it celebrates its 70th anniversary.
Recently, the Marabell Club acquired Finca Ana María, a neighboring historic estate, and has transformed it into a haven for holistic wellbeing—and the home of the world’s newest LOEWE boutique. Housed in a whitewashed building reflective of modern Spanish style, the LOEWE store offers a tastefully curated selection of women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, and home decor. There is an exclusive room dedicated to exotic handbags and an extensive selection of bags, shoes, eyewear, and small leather goods. A separate, flexible client room is also available to offer shoppers a more intimate, bespoke experience.
A Boutique Thoughtfully Designed with Artistry in Mind
The boutique itself is a work of art, indicative of creative director Jonathan W. Anderson’s endless attention to detail and craft. The Andalucian-style building features a stucco facade and terra-cotta tiled roof. Inside, wooden beamed ceilings and terrazzo floors unite to create an airy, lofty space. Vibrant LOEWE handbags complement the thick slabs of white and green marble on which they perch. The store’s walls are lined with ceramic tiles in earthy green and bougainvillea, reflecting the lush gardens outside. Shoppers are encouraged to relax in George Nakashima’s walnut Conoid Cushion chairs and Gerrit Thomas Rietveld’s angular Utrecht chairs or take to the flower-filled seating area outside.
LOEWE Marbella Celebrates Craftsmanship
A stunning array of hand-selected artworks lines the store, nodding to LOEWE’s deep-rooted appreciation of craftsmanship of all kinds. Works by British artists Winifred Nicholson and Ben Nicholson adorn the walls, offering compelling experiments in color and texture. Sculptures by the Italian architect Ugo La Pietra add a touch of whimsy to the elegant space.
The LOEWE Perfumes Greenhouse
In celebration of the boutique’s opening, LOEWE Marbella Club is also hosting the LOEWE Perfumes Greenhouse through September. Against the backdrop of an expansive, traditional Victorian greenhouse, visitors can indulge in the brand’s plentiful olfactory offerings. LOEWE’s Botanical Line, which comprises nine iconic fragrance families inspired by nature, is on display, as is LOEWE Home Scents, which comprises 12 distinct plant-based fragrances that capture the essence of a garden. Guests are encouraged to relax in the Greenhouse’s cozy seating areas and discover the inspiration behind each of the brand’s scents.
