Matiere decided to journey back to its roots: Costa Mesa. Celebrating its origins from the city of San Francisco, the brand designed a collection that any Deadhead would be proud to wear.
Founder Scot Shandalove drew inspiration from his own travels across the country following the Grateful Dead in the late eighties. Days of tie-dye t-shirts are behind Shandalove but this newest collection has fabric treatments of pigment sprays, dip dyes, and enzyme washes. Materials from across the Pacific were used to cultivate an immersive collection that embodied the atmosphere.
The collection rides a wave of rich blues and wispy fades, resonating nautical influence. Creative Director Jake Zeitlin worked together with Shandalove to hone workwear details like cargo pockets on button-up shirts and drawstring hems on linen pants. Entitled “Dead Sea,” this collection breathed a soft nostalgic breeze into the lungs of the fashion world.
