The Grand Palais in Paris was transformed into the Launch Center N°5 yesterday for Chanel‘s fall/winter 2017 ready-to-wear collection. In the center of a bright white runway was a 121 feet-high rocket. “It’s a journey through the sky, to the heart of constellations, in the wake of the astronaut Thomas Pesquet,” said designer Karl Lagerfeld.
Models reached for the stars in silvery fingerless gloves, sparkling headbands with voluminous hair, and shimmering knee-high boots. Tweeds in black and white with flashes of electric blue and purple sparkled with sequins, crystal embroidery, metallic beading, and iridescent thread. There were outerspace-inspired godet skirts, vertical collars, bubbling vinyl tops, and double crepe details.

Astro-women were prepared for celestial chic living with oversized clutches, minaudières shaped like rockets, the Gabrielle bag in metallic leather, and a shiny chevron on the Boy Chanel bag.
