With the restlessness of a gypsy and the adventurous attitude of a wanderer, Viktor&Rolf created their fall/winter 2016-17 collection from scratch. Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren felt thrifty this season, using past collections’ fabrics and garments to create the eclectic and hypnotizing line they called “Vagabonds.”
Systematic destruction and creation revolved in the Viktor&Rolf workshop as fabrics were torn, mixed, and hand-stitched into new capacious shapes and textures. The ornate pieces were inspired from the fundamentals found in the designers’ archive. Repurposed buttons, beads, and crystals were added for detailing.

A teaser video was released by the brand, inviting viewers into the creation process with a ballad of clip, rip, and stitch. The collection appears disheveled at first, drawing you down an unbeaten of large ruffles, asymmetrical beading, tulle, and unkempt top hats that down the runway, looking idly misplaced but intentionally brilliant.
