Baselworld 2017 takes place March 23—30 in Switzerland. Whitewall is showcasing highlights from watchmakers and their newest and most novel timepieces.
Breguet unveiled over the weekend the Marine Equation Merchante 5887. Emblamatic of a new era for the watchmaker’s Marine collection, this “Grande Complication” showcases something quite rare: actual solar hours and minutes. This feat is shown alongside civil time and a perpetual calendar. Breguet’s technical prowess is complimented by an artisan touch, with a dial featuring a unique wave pattern and the words “Marine royale” engraved on the tourbillon bar.

Hublot did not shy away from color at Baselworld this year, revealing four new models for the Spirit of Big Bang Moonphase in blue, purple, orange, and pink. Dials, straps, hands, and bezel all match, providing some vibrant options for this spring and summer. The watches boast an open-worked HUB1770 hand-wound skeleton movement and a semi-transparent sand-blasted moon phase disc. This collection is versatile, vivid, and down right fun.
Rolex debuted a new addition to its Cellini collection at the fair, the Cellini Moonphase. A refined timepiece, it has a 39mm case in 18 ct Everose gold with a patented moonphase complication. Its brown alligator leather strap and matching Everose gold clasp adds to the watch’s overall classic appeal. Elevating the Cellini Moonphase even further is the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, making this timepiece absolutely timeless.
