Baselworld 2017 took place March 23—30 in Switzerland. Whitewall is showcasing highlights from watchmakers and their newest and most novel timepieces.
Christophe Claret collaborated with StingHD to launch the X-TREM-1—StingHD timepiece in a limited edition of eight. The watchmaker invites collectors to “feel the burn” with bright red accents and a revealing skull motif. The X-TREM-1 bestseller (which debuted in 2012) gets a whole new look, in addition to its inclined flying tourbillon with a retrograde hours and minutes display. The image of the skull is carried on to the tourbillon carriage, while the strap gets a sting-ray makeover.
Harry Winston revealed the eighth chapter of its exploration of tourbillon complications with the Histoire de Tourbillon 8 watch. Two biaxial tourbillons boast 75-second rotations that help combat gravity and accelerate precision. Hours and minutes are read on conical discs. The timepiece in 51mm white gold looks futuristic and forward-thinking. Available in two color variations (limited to 10 each), we dig the bright red stylings set against dark gray.
Jaquet Droz showed off the Grande Seconde Black Ceramic Couls de Paris with a 68-hour power reserve. We loved this all-black sleek look with a black fabric strap, Clous de Paris decoration on the dial, and case made from black high-tech ceramic. The hour and minute hands in 18k red gold adds an elegant touch. The watch is limited to 28 pieces
