Cartier Presents the North American debut of “Time Unlimited” in the Miami Design District
Yesterday in Miami, preeminent luxury brand Cartier presented the North American debut of an experiential exhibition titled “Time Unlimited,” on view through December 22 at 45 NE 41st street in the Miami Design District. Running concurrently to Art Basel Miami Beach, the maison rejoices in a storied history of skillful and inventive horology, as well as unparalleled artistic prowess. The show debuts mesmeric displays of exemplary Cartier timepieces—with art direction by Perron-Roettinger design studio. In addition, a series of 12 short, compelling films titled Time Project, produced in partnership with the house’s global ambassador Jake Gyllenhal, and directed by Sølve Sundsbø, invite visitors to bask in the glorious potential of a minute’s time.
The Must-See Exhibition Spotlights Cartier’s Rich Heritage and Enduring Artistry
“Cartier has long balanced craftsmanship with innovation, embracing the Maison’s savoir-faire to create elegant and enduring timepieces,” said Walter Bolognino, President and CEO of Cartier North America. “This installation captures Cartier’s endless quest for designing creations that link well-balanced beauty, rigorous technical expertise, and Maison’s rich heritage. We’re delighted to mark the North American debut of Time Unlimited in the vibrant Miami community.”
Meaningful Thematic Categories Make Way for the House’s Illustrious Universe of Timepieces
The exhibition is categorized by the principal themes of Cartier’s legendary and ingenious history in watchmaking: Pioneering Spirit, Culture of Design, Watchmaker of Shapes, and Technique Serves Beauty. Coveted treasures of the maison’s illustrious universe, including Panthère de Cartier, Baignoire, Tank, Ballon Bleu, and Santos de Cartier, are collaged with select pieces from the Cartier Collection, as well as limited-edition and rare watches.
Visitors are Immersed in the Unexpected and the Powerful Shapes of the Maison
“Everything is based on the forms of the watches themselves and the materiality of the watches,” explained Willo Perron, Partner at Perron-Roettinger. “The whole concept for the exhibition is about celebrating the iconic shapes that Cartier has created. I was surprised by the sheer amount of forms and creative applications, the craftsmanship I saw firsthand in my visit was all incredible…I appreciate how many iconic moments and people have been Cartier watch wearers…What an iconic thing to be associated with, both so unexpected and powerful.”
Director Sølve Sundsbø and Actor Jake Gyllenhaal Illuminate the Power of Time
Weaved into the heart of the debut presentation are a series of 12 mini films starring Gyllenhal. Through Sundsbø’s nimble directorial vision, a succession of black and white cinematic tales unite profound human emotion and the spellbinding power of time. Titles including Chapter One: Time to Wait, Chapter Three: Time to Let Go, Chapter Four: Time to Travel, and Chapter Six: Time to Play, are visually striking, minimalist vignettes, which reveal the vast range of human emotion and experience that can unfold in a poetic minute with Cartier.
