Cip’s Club, Il Corte Sconta, Fortuny Factory, and More: Martine Assouline’s Venice

All this week in preparation for the 2019 Biennale Arte, we’re hearing from leading design, art, culture, and lifestyle experts on how they enjoy Venice.

“Our first guide to Venice was Laurence Sherrer. At the time, she had a marvelous apartment on La Giudecca that she later sold to Elton John. She was our guide who showed us the Cip’s Club, Il Corte Sconta, the weekly market at the Rialto, the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, the Fortuny Factory, Attilio Codognato, the boat to take at sunset to have dinner on other islands… All of these marvels of life became our favorite spots each time we returned to the magical city, which we also continue to cherish in souvenirs. Today we feel a bit more Venetian, having a beautiful boutique inside the Bauer Hotel.”
