In celebration of inspiring women and the brand’s new ring collections, DeBeers unveiled its “Moments in Light” campaign June 5 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London with a dinner and exhibition. The campaign features five women considered masters in their field, chosen and photographed by British photographer Mary McCartney. Each woman displayed her unique talent for McCartney’s photographs as she attempted to capture the “moment of light” for fashion designer Alice Temperly, artist and photographer Chen Man, contemporary artist Cornelia Parker, Michelin star chef Skye Gyngell, and choreographer and dancer Aszure Barton. McCartney shot the women in natural settings, Barton in her studio for example, to capture their illuminating stories.
Presented with the photographs, De Beers’ 1888 Master Diamonds and Creative Solitaires collections of rings showcased the relevance of the light of the diamond to the “brilliance of remarkably talented women.” The pieces served as a centerpiece to the exhibition, and were displayed under an array of fresh meadow flowers suspended from the ceiling.
The event and the campaign supported Women for Women International in its effort to aid women in war-stricken areas financially and emotionally as a partnered charity and sponsored 125 women on behalf of the “Moments in Light” ambassadors.
