David Zwirner is presenting an exhibition by the late artist Alice Neel, featuring paintings and works on paper from the earlier years of her career. Highlighting the 1930s—1950s, the works on view capture scenes, memories, and cityscapes from the New York-based artist’s life, including imagery from the Great Depression, seen through works like the 1952 Harlem Nocturne, the somber self-portrait Alice and Her Child, and a lively scene in deep hues titled Spanish Party.
