Allied with Power: African and African Diaspora Art from the Jorge M. Pérez Collection

Comprised entirely of works from Jorge M. Pérez’s collection, “Allied with Power” features a suite of international artists from locations throughout Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, and the U.S., who are part of the African diaspora. Including names like Genevieve Gaignard, Zanele Muholi, Kara Walker, and Firelei Báez, the works included address the complexities of the present-day from an empowered group of creatives whose differences create a kaleidoscopic sense of unity. The exhibition explores a range of themes like identity, spirituality, everyday life, abstraction, and colonialism.
