“Joy Revision,” Andra Ursuţa’s second solo presentation with David Zwirner, is an exhibition focused on the premodern concept of art as a means of dealing with loss, grief, and mortality. Open through October 29, the show will feature a suite of new works including Ursuţa’s latest photograms, which fall in tune with the medium’s historic reputation of “ghost photography,” conjuring haunting imagery of three-dimensional objects (gurneys, hospital equipment, designer chairs, and skeletons) through the artist’s own methods. Viewers will also find four lead-crystal sculptures, presenting as ghostly configurations that complete the narrative on the difficulty humankind experiences in dealing with the awareness of our own mortality.
