At Rebecca Camacho Presents through May 21, guests can explore “Andy Mister: Solemn Anthems.” The solo exhibition of the Beacon, New York-based artist gains its title inspiration from the Baudelaire poem Landscapes, and pairs drawings of recent cultural happenings with various environmental landscapes. The connection and overlapping of the physical, ideological, and environmental terrain investigates the boundaries between mechanical and manual reproduction. Mister has worked with an array of images—from vintage to contemporary—to question how meaning is lost or created through the act of copying. Alongside these images are drawn works that blend pencil and charcoal over acrylic-washed paper to
replicate the finish of newsprint.
