On view through May 15 at Jackson Fine Art is an exhibition by the artist Angela West entitled “Persephone.” The show features large-scale mixed media pieces inspired by past pieces in her extensive archive. Reimagined works—like My 33rd Spring, first presented 17 years ago—are at the start of her creative process, approached after a year in isolation amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. West returned to these images to layer paint on top of these original landscapes, creating unique paintings that celebrate rebirth and reemergence.
