Art Basel’s “OVR: Miami Beach” launches this week, featuring 255 presenters from 30 countries and territories. Fairgoers can explore and purchase nearly 2,500 works in the online viewing room through presentations focused on the Americas, also enjoying a roster of events like virtual talks and museum tours.
Online visitors can expect to find works dating from 1900 through the current day, including both solo presentations and group shows of artists like Anna Maria Maiolino, Faith Wilding, Regina José Galindo, Bagus Pandega, Simone Leigh, Tracey Emin, and Theaster Gates. 26 first-time galleries include names like SMAC Art Gallery, Shulamit Nazarian, Galeria Kogan Amaro, Bank, Maia Contemporary, Fernando Pradilla, and Matthew Brown Los Angeles. Virtual attendees will also recognize the names of many returning exhibitors, like Richard Gray, Hauser & Wirth, White Cube, ROH Projects, Gemini G.E.L., blank projects, and Prometeo Gallery Ida Pisani.
Highlights in the Conversations programming includes talks surrounding themes like “50 Years of Art Basel: the 2000s,” “Voices from Miami,” and “Moving Forward in a Time of Uncertainty,” which is a three-part series by Edward Winkleman. Participants should also look out for “10 artists | 10 films” developed by Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, a virtual breakfast in the park with Jeffrey Gibson presented by the Frost Art Museum, and The Bass’s online panel with the artist Abraham Cruzvillegas.
