Avery Singer: Reality Ender

Avery Singer’s debut solo exhibition with Hauser & Wirth, “Reality Ender” features two series of new, large-scale paintings. Open through October 30, Singer’s works on view throughout the gallery’s second and fifth floor spaces explore themes and motifs like stereotypes about the bohemian artist, icons of contemporary digital culture, 19th-century European painting imagery, and an escape from our quotidian reality. Using a combination of 3D computer modeling software and traditional painting to create works that captivate the eye with their layerings of shapes, objects, and graffiti-like markings, Singer invites her viewers to explore form as an encounter encompassing narrative, space, history, and idea.
