Ayoung Kim: Syntax and Sorcery

Gallery Hyundai is hosting a solo exhibition by Ayoung Kim in Seoul, called “Syntax and Sorcery,” on display through September 14. The multimedia exhibition shares the tale of Ernst Mo, a female delivery rider working in a fictional Seoul. In this world, the riders are called dancers and work for Deliver Dancer, a powerful platform run by an AI system—the Dancemaster. Ayoung Kim is known for referencing modern and historical geopolitical movements, and “Syntax and Sorcery” is no different. The exhibition includes video installation work, a 20-meter-long wallpaper installation, and more as Ayoung Kim explores the Possible Worlds Theory in combination with the real experiences of delivery riders throughout the pandemic.
