June 13, 2022 - June 19, 2022
For the occasion of Basel Art Week, Liste Art Fair returns to the city, viewable across three facets: in-person from June 13—19, via Liste Showtime Online through June 26, and a permanent presentation, Liste Expedition Online, which features an artist index and research forum. Recently acquired by the Foundation for the Promotion of Contemporary Art Basel, the fair invites viewers to Messe Basel’s Hall 1.1, where they’ll find featured exhibits from 82 different galleries in a circular format by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen i.c.e. Richard Venlet.
Bringing together works by 111 artists in total, fairgoers will find presenters hailing from 37 countries, including 20 first-time attendees like the Los Angeles-based Bel Ami with the work of Masaya Chiba, Hot Wheels from Athens presenting Maria Toumazou, the work of Guillaume Valenti presented by the Paris-based Parliament, Sharif Farrag presented by François Ghebaly, and Kyiv’s Voloshyn sharing work by Nikita Kadan, Lesia Khomenko, and Mykola Ridnyi.
Highlight presentations from returning galleries include those like Eva Fàbregas’s soft sculptural works presented by Bombon; Soft Opening’s display of Nevine Mahmoud, whose work deals with the fragmented body; and a look at the gender-atypical or gay form in steel and satin, that is the product of Piktogram’s show of Zuza Golińska. The fair also encompasses a series of group shows, like Peana’s presentation of artists like Kelvin Kyung Kun Park and Tomás Díaz Cedeño exploring the relationship between faith and science; and Embajada’s “Mine Your Own Business,” looking at social and political developments through the view of our current digital environment.
Other noteworthy happenings to look out for include the I Never Read, Bookshop, an interactive space with refreshments called The Lucky Barn by artists Jeronim Horvat, Maya Hottarek, and Lukas Stäuble; a site-specific installation by Eva Papamargariti, with Basel’s House of Electronic Arts (HEK); and the work of Neda Saeedi and duo Jason Mohaghegh and Asad Khan in a special presentation by the Pejman Foundation.
