“Between Two Waves” by Michele Mikesell is on view at Alan Avery Art Contemporary through June 18. Alluding to mythology and folklore, Mikesell portrays notable explorers with fantastical graphic elements and incorporated animal features. Paintings also explore the desire to travel during the current state of the world amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, further elaborating on human nature and longing.
