Calder: 1975 and Flying Dragon

Gagosian is inaugurating its new rue de Castiglione space with an exhibition of the artist Alexander Calder, “Calder: 1975 and ‘Flying Dragon.’” Indoors, visitors at the gallery will find a presentation looking at the visual language surrounding the artist’s historic Flying Dragon. And outside, just steps away at Place Vendôme, the gallery is presenting the monumental red sculpture, installed as part of FIAC’S “Hors les Murs” exhibition. Concurrently, at Gagosian’s rue de Ponthieu gallery, the gallery is sharing an additional presentation of Calder’s artwork, which explores his singular style and its use of juxtaposing elements like stillness and motion, biomorphic forms and abstraction, and monumentality and ephemerality.
