On view at Bakehouse Art Complex is a collection of exhibitions by three of its resident artists. In “Temple, Rock, Cloud,” multidisciplinary artist Chris Dougnac reimagines Gallery 825 of the Louvre Museum in Paris as a chroma-key green platform for recreating the works of French Baroque artist Nicolas Poussin. Dougnac presents a fully immersive installation comprising painting, sound sculpture, and performance. “New Topographies, 25.7617° N, 80.1918 W,” by Gabriela Gamboa, is a multi-site installation of digital prints on aluminum panels that depict a mine in Venezuela. Juxtaposing archival and found materials, as well as photography, Gamboa illustrates how landscapes impact memory. Finally, artist Gabriela García, propelled by an interest in Styrofoam, presents a site-specific installation, “Disposability Disrupted.” The enveloping exhibition uses sculpture and photography to carefully examine the material’s formal properties and environmental ramifications.
