Claudio Parmiggiani

In this show at Simon Lee Gallery, Claudio Parmiggiani is exhibiting a series of new Delocazione works which will remain on view through September 25. Painted with smoke and soot, the works appear to be the ghostly outlines of shelves filled with books, which line the walls of the gallery space. Accompanied by a single bell hanging from the ceiling and a smoky figure (painted using the same technique), the ghostly works leave the viewer with an aching notion of absence, which follows Parmiggiani’s ongoing investigation of the human condition.
