During Milan Design Week, Italian textile company Dedar launches its 2022 collection. The new “Contemporary Archives” combine classic motifs such as English club stripes, abstract camouflage, and lively florals, while referencing the luxurious world of haute couture. “Archive Prints” give new life to the ancient cultural exchange between east and west: reinterpreting 17th and 18th-century textile archives from the curved paisley motif to the densely patterned parallel rows typical of kalamink fabrics. “Plain Fabrics” provide a a canvas for creativity, whereby timeless and rich fibers give new depth of field to a visual landscape defined by the horizon of color. Dedar’s Italian silks are woven by the craftsmen of Lake Como. A modern interpretation of pure silk grosgrain Rapunzel recalls high fashion textiles. Razmir, with its even weave and subtle ribbed effect, offers a colorful and irreverent twist on radzimir fabrics. In celebration of Design Week, Dedar presents a special edition of the Borsalino bucket hat made from iconic fabrics of the collection. The project supports Fondazione AIRC‘s cancer research, and proceeds will be donated to fund a grant for oncological research.
