“Denis Savary: Ithaca” is currently on view at Galerie Maria Bernheim in Zurich through March 27, 2021. The exhibition title refers to the city in New York, home to Cornell University, whose name is lifted from Odysseus. Three dollhouses fill the space, all angles and puzzling proportions. References to art history and literature abound, with wallpaper inspired by Robert Gober or a staircase the feels quite Duchampian. The also hark back to Savary’s own history, specifically his early videos seeming shot from the window of his small town home.
