“Easy to be Hard,” an exhibition of paintings by Mario Ayala and Henry Gunderson, is on view at Ever Gold [Projects] in San Francisco through August 18. Both artists incorporate industrial painting techniques like airbrush and stenciling into their fine art practices, creating unique imagery that expands beyond Pop art. “It is both Pop and Conceptual, high and low,” said art dealer Jeffrey Deitch. “This is the new American painting.”
