Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris presents an exhibition of Portuguese artist Francisco Tropa: “The Lung and the Heart.” On view through January 29, the show is a special part of the France-Portugal 2022 season. Tropa’s beguiling and innovative sculptures are drawn from the cinematic image while alluding to technology, art history, and science. In this series, the artist closely examines the creation of the world and all living beings. In a surreal landscape, viewers journey through time and space, coming into contact with rhythmic mechanisms for a thoroughly immersive experience. The grand installation of “The Lung and the Heart” considers the extraordinary human body. Cycles and the connection between forms of life on earth and in space are examined with forensic brilliance and graceful humanity.
