Hayal Pozanti: Lingering

Hayal Pozanti’s “Lingering” (open at Jessica Silverman through February 26) is the artist’s response to worries surrounding artificial intelligence and digital media. Scaled in correspondence with the artist’s own body, Pozanti treats these new paintings as a sort of visual poetry, which come together in the exhibition to create a planetary universe of abstraction. In the works, pigments found in the natural world and abstract forms suggestive of flora and fauna are the key facets of compositions that embrace visceral, sensorial interactions with the earth—seen through paintings like Loving Horizon and the desert-hued Daughters of Soma.
