Open at David Zwirner’s Paris location through January 29, 2022, the gallery invited Russell Tovey to curate this exhibition of the late artist Hugh Steers, “Blue Towel, Red Tank.” Part of the gallery’s “More Life” series, surrounding the 40th anniversary of the ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis, Steers paints in great detail scenarios infused with hints of empathy, humor, and pathos, exploring imagery informed by the epidemic. Through moody hues and intriguing compositions, Steers’s viewers will be left with a certain feeling of heartache, empathy, and understanding when faced with the snapshots of the poignant circumstances.
