Ibrahim Mahama’s “Lazarus” is a presentation of new works encompassing a suite of collage, film, sculpture, and large-scale installation, open through November 7 at White Cube’s Bermondsey gallery. The show offers a narrative on the passage of time and concepts of obsolescence and regeneration, born from consideration of an abandoned building called Nkrumah Voli-n—named for the first president of Ghana (Kwame Nkrumah) and a literal translation of “inside the hole”—located in the artist’s home town of Tamale, Ghana.
