Artist Ilit Azoulay presents “Queendom” at the Israel Pavilion of the 59th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia through November 27. Curated by Shelley Harten, curator for Contemporary and Modern Art and History at the Jewish Museum Berlin, the exhibition consists of sweeping panoramic photomontages accompanied by an immersive soundscape. Through images collected from storytelling and oral histories, Azoulay’s exhibition explores diversity, cultural appropriation, and the supreme power of art. The artist is known to be an energetic researcher and investigator, composing photographic collections that point to the undiscovered, and open new pathways of dialogue and cross-cultural understanding.
