Nina Johnson Gallery’s solo presentation of Joseph Holtzman features a suite of the artist’s paintings on stone. Framed in wood, the smooth slabs of marble bear compositions in oil paint, which are made of Holtzman’s ghostly subjects, suggesting scenes and figures from a dreamy realm of spirits, captured in deep, saturated colors reminiscent of stained glass.
