Open at Almine Rech’s London gallery through July 31, “Larry Poons and Painting: An Epic Journey” features works dating from 1976 to the present day. Sparked by a 1969 exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art curated by Henry Geldzahler, which predicted that the then-32-year-old had a promising future, this survey continues the telling of Poons’s story through a selection of his most regarded works. On view, visitors can expect to find works like the 1976 Yellow Cat on Hand, the giant rubber-ball-and-canvas Music from 1990, and more recent creations like the 2020 Centaur.
