Liu Xiaodong’s “Borders” at Dallas Contemporary is the result of two research trips conducted along the U.S. to Mexico border in 2019, wherein the artist documented his experiences in cities like Marfa, Eagle Pass, Piedras Negras, Cuidad Juarez, and El Paso. In the exhibition, viewers will find a series of paintings, videos, and diary entries based on extensive drawings and footage collected by the artist during his travels.
