Open at Kunsthalle Zurich through September 5, Lorenza Longhi’s “Minuet of Manners” encompasses every aspect of the gallery, including the furniture and the methods by which her works have been hung. Concerned with aspects of thought and movement as the title poses, this manipulation of space offers a play on the minuet—a two-person dance—that ensues every time a visitor engages with an artwork. Staged within elements like a copy of a bench from Rome’s Palazzo Delle Esposizioni and a glistening plastic wall that blocks visitors’ view, the artworks themselves are a series of silkscreen printed fabric graphics that have been mounted on wood panels and hung with custom-made shelves, belts, and screws.
