On view at the New Museum through October 3 is Lynn Hershman Leeson’s exhibition “Twisted.” A compilation of drawing, sculpture, video, photography, and net-based works demonstrating the artist’s widespread oeuvre, the presentation (named for the twisted strands of a double helix of DNA) features works dating from the 1960s to the present, which look at ideas of identity construction, transmutation, and the cyborg self. Viewers can expect to find works like pieces from her ongoing Water Women series, the 1970s project Roberta Breitmore, her recent large-scale multimedia installation, The Infinity Engine, and the 2021 commission with Harvard University’s Wyss Institute, titled Twisted Gravity, which incorporates new water purifying technologies.
